Kindness is Free Recognized by LA County Board of Supervisors

On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, Kindness is Free was formally recognized by Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell during a public board meeting of the LA County Board of Supervisors. Supervisor Mitchell, an inducted Kindness Hall of Famer and longtime champion of the Kindness movement, honored Kindness is Free for its powerful work in empowering youth through kindness education across Los Angeles County.
During the meeting, Supervisor Mitchell delivered a heartfelt address highlighting the impact of the Kindness is Free movement. She then welcomed Kindness is Free Founder and Visionary Lori Milgard to the podium. Lori shared the origins of the movement, why kindness education matters, and how the initiative has continued to ripple through communities, transforming lives and shifting school culture from the inside out.
Lori was joined by five remarkable Kindness is Free Teen Ambassadors, each representing one of the five LA County districts. These young leaders stood as a living testament to the movement’s mission — to make kindness visible, actionable, and deeply rooted in every community.
The event drew media and community members who came to witness and celebrate this powerful moment of recognition. Attendees had the opportunity to hear firsthand from the Teen Ambassadors, who shared stories about how Kindness is Free has shaped their schools, neighborhoods, and personal lives.
This recognition marked an important milestone in the Kindness is Free journey. It honored the youth who are leading with heart, the educators and leaders who are supporting them, and the growing community that believes kindness can be a foundation for lasting change.
As Lori Milgard shared during her remarks, “At Kindness is Free, we believe that when we teach, model, and celebrate kindness, especially with our youth, we can transform communities from the inside out. Our vision is simple but bold: to make kindness a way of life everywhere people gather.”
This event served as both a celebration and a call to action — to continue uplifting youth, centering kindness, and building stronger communities across Los Angeles County and beyond.
