Kindness is Free, powered by the Boys & Girls Clubs of the West San Gabriel Valley and generously sponsored by the Skylight Foundation, spread kindness at schools throughout the month of June 2024!
As schools all over Southern California ended their academic year, the Kindness is Free team and Teen Kindness Ambassadors visited school campuses and led students in taking the Kindness Pledge to treat each other with respect, equality, and compassion into the summer and throughout the new school year. The campaign was one of the largest backpack drives in Southern California and the initiative was meant to alleviate financial stress for families during summer break and ensure that students were well-prepared for the next academic year.
Once students committed to the Kindness is Free movement, they received a brand new Kindness is Free backpack filled with school supplies to help them prepare for the coming school year.

The WHY
A Positive Impact on Students
Teachers report that students who are prepared for class perform better in school. Specific improvements include:
- 91.2% improvement in preparedness
- 82.3% improvement in class participation
- 93.2% improvement in confidence
